Use SPIFF memory from ESP8266 for font/bitmaps?

Hello,

I was a bit disappointed to read here that I can't use the sd-card as enhanced "flash" memory.

I'm using an ESP8266 over i2c to communicate with the display. Can I use the 3MB SPIFF memory of the ESP as font/bitmap memory?

The firmware are different on Digole's display if flash chip installed, you need to buy the module that the flash chip pre-installed from Digole

Due to it's so complicated to drive the micro SD memory, Digole only provide a socket and route the singal for user, the on-board MCU can't handle such task.
